An overlooked point in the discussion of Philippians 3:20-21 is the role of the Holy Spirit, meaning the eschatological Spirit poured out in Israel’s last days in bringing about the transformation of the body of Christ. The body in that text, called the body of the humiliation of us, would by the Spirit be fashioned or conformed like the body of His glory. The pneumatology of Paul is inseparably woven into his eschatology and the two cannot be disconnected, exegetically ignored or dismissed without violating the context. The particular reference of which we will focus is the working of the Spirit.
